What’s Down The Track

In an “elevator-pitch” speech at the Kalgoorlie-Boulder Chamber of Commerce and Industry forum, What’s Down The Track, Rowena was asked to share with the audience the impact assistance from Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resource’s Entrepreneurs Program has had on Kai Rho. This funding has helped us implement management systems that ensure our capacity to grow, building upon a solid foundation.

Kai Rho inaugural member of local Aboriginal Chamber

Kai Rho Contracting, along with several other prominent Aboriginal owned businesses in the Goldfields regions, have formed a Chamber for Aboriginal Businesses. The launch of the Goldfields Aboriginal Business Chamber (GABC) highlighted the grassroots initiative designed to bring industry & local Aboriginal businesses together. The event was attended by many in the industry and community leaders. The sponsors of the event were DM Roads & KCGM. Aboriginal businesses in the region are invited to join this community led initiative.

Rowena Leslie makes her mark at Women in Mining & Resources WA Summit 2020

At a Perth presentation to more than 250 guests from across the mining and resource industry Rowena Leslie shared her insights on the many benefits her Aboriginal business offers in building the skills and confidence of Aboriginal employees.  Here’s just one of her comments. 

As an Aboriginal business owner I feel like we are a conduit to empowering our community. In an Aboriginal business, our employees have the confidence in themselves to make a mistake and learn from it because they don’t have the weight of years of negative stereotype on their shoulders. When you empower people, they in turn are able to empower those around them.
