Work Health and safety (WHS) language is full of acronyms without explanation. Here are a few we have used on this page and their full meaning:
PPE: Personal Protective Equipment includes anything that is designed to protect the wearer’s body for injury or infection such as helmets, goggles, special clothing, and masks.
GPS Tracking: anyone who has travelled outside their local town has used the Global Positioning System to locate their destination, but it is also used in safety to keep track of teams on remote locations, identify mechanic usage and preempt failure.
ROPS: Rollover Protection Structures or Systems are installed in machinery to protect the operator in the event of a rollover. It can involve bars attached to the mainframe that maintain a space for the operator’s body in all rollover scenarios.
